Utility Consumption DatabaseBackground With the launch of the Energy Conservation Initiative, the Ministry of Education has created a broad based program designed to promote the principals of energy management. The goals of the initiative include:
With approximately 4,900 publicly-funded schools and 100 administrative buildings across Ontario, the Ministry also recognized that an opportunity existed for school boards to demonstrate energy management leadership through their cooperative efforts in sharing best practices in energy management. Central to identifying best practices is providing school boards with access to information about how their schools consume energy. Recognizing that consumption data is a foundation for energy management decisions and actions, the Ministry of Education and York Catholic District School Board issued a Request for Proposal seeking a Utility Consumption Database. In developing its proposal, Aegent sought a "best in class" solution for the project's information system requirements. Managingenergy.com was selected as the information platform for their ability to provide a secure, robust, flexible and fully featured system that met, or exceeded, the specifications of the Utility Consumption Database. Combining Managingenergy.com's information platform with Aegent's streamlined data gathering system and energy industry experience, the proposal demonstrated the expertise, efficient data gathering, and a user friendly information platform required for the Utility Consumption Database. |
